Parental Alienation - Urgent amendments in the Law and improvements to the Family Court procedures required.
Nicholas Camilleri reiterated that he was a victim of domestic violence.
The sad truth is that the Maltese legal system does not help people like Nicholas, who was found dead. The case is still being investigated. It is too late now to heed Nicholas’s pleas.
In one way or another, we are all responsible for this tragic event. This death could have been avoided. It is high time we stop saying that the husband is always the perpetrator of domestic violence. He could very well be the victim.
As a voluntary association working with people who are in crisis owing to violence against the family, Happy Parenting - Malta (For Happier Children) is taking this case, and similar cases, very seriously, with a view to raising awareness of this scourge. All too often, no sooner would someone utter a word about this topic, than someone else would shut them up and try to hide this reality!
A vigil commemorating the life of Nicholas Camilleri was held in Valletta on Friday 24 June at 7pm in front of the Courts of Malta.
